Industrial Design protection is a type of intellectual property right that gives the exclusive right to make, sell, and use articles that embody the protected design.

The industrial design or design patent protects the creation of new and original 3-D features such as new shape of an article, configuration, surface pattern, ornamentation, or 2-D features such as patterns, lines or colour applied to an article, which in the finished state appeal to and is judged solely by the eye (aesthetics).
